It is one of the main attractions of Baba Budan Giri or Dattapeeta. Location: It is located approximately 40 km from the chickmagalur town. The fall is about a kilometre away from Baba Budan Giri and is in the midst of the Shola forest and on reaching there, a set of stairs lead down to the bottom of the falls. The specialty of the fall is that it does not get drained during the summer; instead the water remains icy cold. The fall also offers a splendid view of the surrounding natural beauty, while the mist covered hills and cool breeze add to the splendour of the sight. Other than this natural significance, Manikyadhara Falls also has another dimension of cultural significance; people believe that bathing in this fall can cure one of many ailments and both Hindu and Muslim devotees take a bath here since they consider it to be sacred. The fall is popular for another reason; many original herbal medicines are available at the shops here. The shop keepers claim that they sell the original herbs, which could heal different diseases. They also guide the tourists on using the herbal medicine. The Manikyadhara Falls is merely a kilometre away from Baba Budan Giri, which is 28 Km away from Chikmagalur. |
